You are about to die, so knowing my name is useless to you.

Yes Goobs, I’m still away, hidden somewhere in northern cow country, probably slouching against some wall smoking a nice cigar. This doesn’t mean I don’t still love you though. Enjoy the first ten minutes of probably one of the greatest pieces of animation ever drawn. Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal absolutely rocks, will entertain any and all into samurai lore, and should strike an emotional chord with anyone sporting half a brain (that means me! It does!). Someone awesome upped the entire movie on Youtube, so sift through the rest of the spliced up parts if you have a free hour. You really should watch this film. It changed my life. I dropped out of college, grew a beard, voted green and started wearing hemp…. I kid, I kid. It is a great film though, so take the opportunity to see it free before the “MAN” takes it down.

Somewhat of a warning though: This is totally NSFW and NSFK(ids). Blood and ever graphic displays of samurai justice; The kind we all love and enjoy.

“You are about to die, so knowing my name is useless to you.”

If I was going to kill someone, I’d totally say that first. Even if they knew me.

Can’t Be 2 Places At Once – Friday’s Girl of Gaming

Posted in On A Personal Note with tags on May 28, 2010 by Justinzero

Lucky ol’ me has a wedding to go to this weekend. Not a big deal, sure, but trying to fit any leisure time in while driving 5 hours north of Calgary doesn’t really leave all that much free time for yours truly. So things here may be slow, well, slower than they have been. There is a positive side to all this though. I had to pick up USA branded family from the airport tonight, which always includes a nice stop over at the Calgary YYC arcade. There were quite a few neat games to jam on, some pinball machines, and one hell of a neat light-gun game. I took quite a few shots too, so keep an eye out early next week.

Anywho, enjoy the weekend guys! I’ll be ether on the road, or right pissed up for most of mine. Gotta remember to take that DS with me; It’s what the system is meant for after all.

PS – Uh, make an old man happy. Go pick up an uber cheap copy of Little King Story. I got mine from Wallyworld (Walmart for overseas Goobs) for a cheap $30, brand new, with the wrapping, and the ever famous Walmart smile.

I could write a cheeky comment, but, uh, the wife is right behind me. And in case you were wondering, yeah, I’m cheapin’ out with the gaming girl this week. All of us in the video game purchasing business have come to know Ms. Tonya quite well. Not as well as most of us would like, but enough to garner that smile.

Shameless Self Promotion That Isn’t Selfish – Jason X’s Biased Reviews

Posted in On A Personal Note, Video Games with tags , on May 25, 2010 by Justinzero

Oh shiz, run for it! I think he’s mad at us!

I’ve got some good reading to share with my fellow Goobs. Game-centric reading more on a grassroots level, filled with sensible and brutally honest opinions well placed on paper… as it were. Jason X, author of the aptly named “Biased Reviews” blog, is trying to kick start his review site again, but this time with a change in format and a higher degree of, *ahem*, honesty and self-directed biased opinions. There are 2 new reviews up, feeding a good 30 minutes of content to passing readers and new fans alike. The new Dragon Age expansion is expanded upon (heh, the cheese, you can’t stop it!), while Alone in the Dark’s latest installment finds little solace hiding from Jason’s shadow piercing gaze. A bit of a warning though, especially to big fans of each franchise: Jason, like those great Red Letter Media reviews on Star Trek/Star Wars, has a habit of breaking whatever he reviews down to its core. Thus, whatever foundation you thought you had to enjoy the game is literally bent over like Marsellus Wallace, and fed Zed until the love is all but gone.

I’m ready for him, I swear!

So if you are looking for a few good reads, and are interested in a rare but honest take on some of your current favorites, then head on over to “Biased Reviews”. Personally, I think the blog needs a name change… hmm, perhaps “Plastic Hate – Casting Light On Shitty Games Plastic Shittyness-ness”. Yeah? No? Maybe I should copyright the name, and resell it to him.
